Viña del Mar + Valparaiso (24.8.)

Am letzten tag der reise (24.8.) gings nach Valparaiso und viña del mar an die küste von Chile. Wir sind mit 2 chilenen dort rumgelaufen. Valparaiso ist bekannt für seine farbigen häuser und vina del Mar für seine strände. Zum glück war schönes wetter und wir konnten den letzten tag in den hügeln von Valparaiso geniessen...danach über sao Paulo zurück nach Frankfurt ;)

On the last day of our journey we went to vina del mar and Valparaiso. Valparaiso is known for its hills full of colorful houses, you can see it in each postcard of Chile. Vina del mar is well known for its beaches when the people of Santiago relax there in the summer. We went with two people from Chile, really great guides. We ate many typical things, among others chorillana, it's fries with onions and meat (yes, Chileans eat very unhealthy like (almost) all the people in Latin America...I still cannot believe why most of the people are so thin here!!)
The last day was great...Alemania nos vemos pronto!!

 

 

Santiago de Chile (23.8.)

Ich bin erst auf den cerro san Cristobal. Von dort aus hat man eine gute sicht auf die stadt und auf der spitze ist noch eine riesen marienstatue, sieht irgendwie ein bisschen so aus wie in Rio. Danach haben wir noch eine stadtführung mitgemacht. Die war echt sehr interessant, von der kolonialzeit über die militärdiktatur bis zur heutigen regierung war alles dabei. Danach hab ich mein erstes erdbeben erlebt, alles hat gewackelt aber nicht so stark dass was runtergefallen ist. In Chile sind die relativ häufig. Das epicenter war auch weiter weg. Abends gings noch typisch chilenisch essen: pastel de choclo (eine "torte" aus mais gefüllt mit fleisch und gemüse), war sehr füllend.

On Saturday I went up a hill to have a nice view of Santiago. On the hill there is a huge figure of Maria (like the Jesus statue in Rio ;)
In the afternoon we did a walking tour of downtown which was good, but the weather bad. Actually this was the first day of bad weather during the whole trip and this on the second last day!! We were really lucky with the weather!
Aaaand I experienced my first earthquake. The whole hostel was shaking, I was under the doorframe with the others. Even though nothing fell off the wall it was pretty terrifying. Anyway everybody survived, noone in Chile even got injured, so not a big deal for them! xD
Afterwards we 'pastel de choclo' (tarta of corn filled with meat and veggies), a typical Chilean dish, really filling! ;)
